I once turned in a research paper I originally did in junior high for a college course. :) Got high marks on it both times!

As others have said, you can't plagarize yourself. I think you came up with a great solution to your dilemma!

My school actually *does* have a policy in regards to "plagiarizing yourself." They also call it "double dipping." And even reworking a piece you submitted in one class to hand into another can result in a failing grade, if the teacher is particularly terrible. And we have a few of those! That's for sure! That's why I got really nervous about it. :/

I think the question then is, have you submitted that fanfic in a class at that school before? I really don't think they would be valid to mark you badly if they, personally, have never seen the original version of the fic.
