It's not plagiarism, though. Hopefully you retooled it enough so that it doesn't read too much like a typical fanfic, i.e. not much in the way of characterization. The main risk is that someone recognizes it and now your fanfic identity being tied to your IRL one.

The canon is two (not quite) in love people in a modern day office, and what I submitted was two (not yet) in love people who time travel through the fall of the Roman Empire to the Middle Ages to the Mayflower to the '20s and so on. I was just worried that the relationship sounded too close, but I think I retooled that enough too.

This semester has me so on edge that I just needed someone to tell me that I wasn't going crazy!
