Ugh, as someone who has had acne problems since I hit puberty and I'm now 30 I feel that.

Oh, you should wash with this. Oh, you need to not wear makeup. Oh, don't eat sugar. Oh, you shouldn't have milk. On and on and on.

Yeah, your magical advice will suddenly fix what dermatologist have been treating me for 15+ years.

IDK, when I finally went to a dermatologist for my adult acne, he put me on a short course of oral tetracycline, a topical erythromycin preparation, and nightly Retin-A. I was off everything but the Retin-A in a year or so; my skin isn't perfect now but the difference is like night and day. If you've been struggling along for 15 years without much improvement, maybe you need a second opinion, at the very least.

NAYRT but there isn't a one size fits all solution to acne and the solution you just described is the only solution 4 dermatologists I saw came up with. It's the go-to solution for simple-to-moderate acne and it works really well for those types. It has little to no effect on things like nodules and types of clinically gross acne, which have few or even no effective treatments. My own options are limited to laser treatments with significant scarring and a slight decrease in pain over a few eels or no treatment at all with the pain spread over months or years but a lot less scarring. Those antibiotics serve only to drain my bank account and line the pockets of the drug companies and their doctor shills.

AYRT here, that sounds appalling. You would think dermatologists could come up with something better after all these years. I notice you don't mention Accutane...scary, scary drug, unbelievable that it's still in use.

And you're right that my acne was only moderate at its worst. Yet I grew up constantly hearing about my mom's great beauty, especially her flawless complexion, and the message I absorbed from that was that my bad skin was as repulsive as leprosy, a disgrace. I can't imagine the distress cystic acne would cause.
