It's not like it's unheard of for adaptations to change the plot of something...

Although that said I'm not familiar with this particular fandom, so I don't know

I came here to say. I have not watched this version, but new adaptations might change things indeed, especially if the series is successful and the want it to run for a few more seasons.

it's not quite an adaptation, it's a prequel set an indeterminate time before TI, it starts with flint and his plan to steal some gold and silver coming along and being a Little Shit about it and worming his way into things. There's wiggle room for the events of Black Sails lining up with the events of Treasure Island and the I believe the people behind the show said that it's not going be a 100% perfect adaptation to begin with.

Yeah, except it's also been stated by TPTB that this season will leave us at a point that reasonably leads to the events of the book...

So, that's not a happily ever after for anyone.

Hell, the only characters who will likely end up with even a semi-happy ending for the series are Silver & Madi. (If she is intended to be Silver's wife...).

Okay, and I don't think I said anything disagreeing with that? Jeez. Max and Eleanor are original characters and Anne's fate is unknown in reality too.

Sorry, I read your statement as an implication that the show wouldn't line up with the book...so that 'happy endings' were a possibility.

And I should've specified that I was referring to any characters in Black Sails that are canon to Treasure Island - as that's what the secret was referring to.
