Explain? I assume anon didn't go up to their parents and go "hey Mum I named this virtual cat after your cat" or go tell their neighbors about it. If my cat died and I named a virtual cat in a game after him and kept it forever on my phone as memory, it'd be a secret to me. That kind of thing is personal and some people would laugh at the idea.

+1 I could also see someone thinking OP was childish or lame for doing so. Especially someone who was a cat-hating dick.

I was thinking of picking up a Nintendog because it reminded me of my old dog, I would *not* go tell people why I was buying or playing the game.

Yeah, I am the anon who responded that I did the same, and I have definitely kept it a secret in my real life.
