Snow is a kidnapper (Lily), an abuse apologist (Regina), and a horrible ruler who frequently puts her own comfort above the best interest of her subjects. Emma is a murderer (Cruella), who denies others (Hook, Violet) bodily autonomy and who has degenerated from a woman who fights for the little guy to a woman who cheerfully ignores people in distress (Belle, Will, Sidney) to coddle Regina and suck face with Hook.

Ok I'm not going to argue with all of that but:

1. At the time Cruella was (as far as she knew) going to kill Henry. Didn't Cruella have Henry at the edge of a cliff or something? I don't think killing someone to save your son is really a negative.
2. The stuff she did as the Dark One was stuff she did as the Dark One. Which she became as a way to save someone else.
3. Snow being an 'abuse apologist' is her trying to find ways to forgive someone who probably doesn't deserve forgiveness.

NAYRT--"stuff (s)he did as the Dark One" pretty much describes Rumplestiltskin's entire life up until the tail end of season 4, and he became the Dark One to save his son, but if the nasty shit he pulled as the Dark One is on him, then the nasty shit Emma (and Hook, and all the other Dark Ones) pulled is on them. I'm not a big Snow fan because she kidnapped a baby and sent it to another world against the mom's wishes. Basically everyone on the show, barring some minor characters, has been a douche at some point, and the terrible writing for the show doesn't help.

DA -- I think the difference is that he's chosen it, multiple times at this point. None of the other main characters "infected" with the Darkness chose it. Maybe Emma, but that wasn't for power, it was to keep it from killing anyone else/going into anyone else.

I also think "everyone has been a douche but can choose to be good" is one of the main points of the show, so I agree with you there.
