My first fandoms were anime where the Gundam Wing pilots and Sailor Scouts were all supposed to be 13-14. Can you imagine the fallout now?

Though probably the best post I ever saw was someone on an adult forum with an extremely explicit MLP 'clop' icon complaining that anyone shipping Steven Universe characters, even the thousand year old gems, was pedo because 'That's a kid's show! You shouldn't sexualize kid's shows!'
Completely seriously too. Entirely unaware of the irony. It was fantastic.

I think they were all 15 with Trowa supposedly being a year older. Not like that makes a huge difference. XD

Oh yeah, the fallout would be spectacular. I'm just glad that the Gundam Wing fandom, being as small as it is now, is mostly us old-timers who understand that it's a completely different universe and that the GW Pilots were all basically forced to grow up to such a degree that their age didn't matter. Even Duo, who could be sort of teh playfullest of the bunch, was far more mature for his age than he ever let on. Same went for Quatre.

It only really mattered when people realized that they were fighting a teenager in the midst of heavy battle and that usually meant they were about to die because, whoops, they suddenly underestimate their opponent.

Sailor Moon, due to SMC, is getting that whole beat down, though luckily it isn't as bad as COULD have been had they kept the original age and schooling for Mamoru (first publications had him in college, but that has since been changed over the years to keep it less...squicky).

Mamoru was a second year in high school in the manga (11th grade) while Usagi was a second year in middle school (8th grade, plus she states that she is 14). For whatever reason, the original anime made Mamoru a college student.

Huh, I thought it was the other way around. The more you know! *star thingy*

Either way, that was still rather squicky.
