IDGI either. There's this fannish facebook group I hang out on sometimes, and one day a bunch of the women there started gushing about it. I didn't want to be an asshole and rain on their parade, so I said WHY very loudly to myself.
It's such a condescending fic, and the characterization is bullshit.

ETA: As for Harry turning into a super-genius... yeah. I agree that having a Harry that's more interested in the world around him would be interesting, and you could argue that maybe different upbringing would have made him turn out a bit different... but he was friends with Hermione, and he consistently found her pretty boring. I just don't think Harry is a particularly intellectual guy (which is one of the reasons I never really got into him as a character).
