Dare I admit that I really like this fic?

It always makes me kind of sad the hatred that it gets; other fics seem to get more "It's not my cup of tea, but it's okay that others like it".

I don't like it for the science (and I don't consider myself a genius or anything like that) -- after my first reading of it, I tend to skim the more science-dense sections. And yeah, I've read it a number of times now, at least four times from front to back.

I love it for the relationship in it. The two characters are very smart (so very smart) and it's fascinating to see the two of them playing off against each other.

There was a time, long long long ago, when I was very active in the HP fandom. Perhaps back then, AUs might have bothered me. "But he's nothing like Harry!" I might have cried. But now? That's a bonus to me. I have very little interest left in the HP fandom, and less than zero interest in Harry himself. I just plain like this fic's version of Harry a hell of a lot more.

I see this as a wonderful original fic more than a HP fanfic, one that just shares some traits with the HP world.

Your mileage may, of course, vary.
