I think I'm seeing Tom Stoppard's Arcadia on Sunday. But it was supposed to be with some family friends and one of them is an obsessed transplanted Cubs fan, and he really might cancel in favor of baseball.

No Halloween plans with my friends this year, but my sister and her kids were in town last weekend so we made the traditional Halloween cupcakes my family's been making for around 50 years now. 3 is a good age to start decorating cupcakes. :)

I can understand why a Cubs fan might cancel all other things to watch baseball right now.

Three is a perfect age to start decorating cupcakes. I hope you all have fun. :D

It was last weekend, so the cupcakes were made and eaten! 4 dozen (1 box yellow, 1 box choc) goes fast. Now I just have extra licorice (I like it...) and jelly beans. Which at least prevents me from getting into the stuff for the Trick-or-Treaters.

The finished product! Witches' cats, owls, pumpkins, and goblins! We usually make the witches (you can see them in the recipe image from c. 1960; these go back to when my mom was little, she made them with her mom), but they're a bit more complicated. Gotta use toothpicks to hold the hat up, so that's not so easy to make/eat for the little ones.

It was lots of fun! Haven't had them in years, but back in the day, we brought these to our elementary/middle school homerooms every year and made upwards of 140.

Those are great! We used to make cupcakes like that in school for different holidays.
