I enjoy their friendship too; it's nice seeing opposite-sex folks care about each other and not have it be about sex.

I guess for me Steve and Natasha fills that role of platonic friendship. I do like male/female friendships that stay friendships, but I also like friendships that turn into romance. I like romances where the characters have a lot of history, which is why I love Clintasha almost as much as i love Stucky.

I also like them being friends without sexual tension, and I might not have even minded Clint's secret family, but damn did I hate the Bruce/Natasha thing.

(Anonymous) 2016-10-31 08:24 am (UTC)(link)
Same. Though I'm still not entirely on board with the secret family, I can deal with it (I was sorta hoping for Mockingbird, oh well.)

Bruce/Natasha was really off putting.

(Anonymous) 2016-10-30 09:22 pm (UTC)(link)
I love that they're super besties and that's it; but I just can't forgive Clint's secret family because I don't see how Kate Bishop and Clint can be the team I so desperately want.

Clintasha is maybe my 2nd or 3rd fave MCU Natasha ship but I absolutely love their bff relationship in canon and wouldn't change it from being platonic in the movies.

I however didn't care for Bruce/Nat or Clint's random-ass family but it's not because it got in the way of a ship, it's because they were both so out of nowhere and that kind of shit annoys me.

I've come to strongly prefer them as friends but I still would have taken them or several other pairings over Whedon's oh-so-cleverly-unpredictable shit.

(Anonymous) 2016-10-30 10:16 pm (UTC)(link)
While I'm glad Whedon didn't go there, the whole Natasha/Bruce and Clint's family felt really clumsily dumped in. I wish he'd done a better job of incorporating those things so it felt more natural in the plot.

(Anonymous) 2016-10-30 10:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Why are people so fixated on opposite gender friendships without sexual tension?

(Anonymous) 2016-10-30 10:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Because it's rare? Because good friendships are neat to see? Because so many factors make this difficult to achieve in real life so it's nice to see it in media?

(Anonymous) 2016-10-30 10:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah. I like my fiction to reflect reality rather than some ideal of it.

I mean I like my fiction to have magic and dragons, but you do you.

Yeah, I like the "good friendships" aspect of it, and it's pretty rare in fandom, where shipping is paramount.

Because opposite gender friendships with sexual tension - usually ending in romance - are pretty common.

(Anonymous) 2016-10-30 10:50 pm (UTC)(link)
It's common because people enjoy it.

Because it's nice to see both male and female interesting characters on screen without any (though usually the women) being reduced to only "love interest" and therefore at greater risk of languishing with less character development or screentime.

I love both, to be honest, but friendship more than romantic ship. And i headcanon Clint's 'wife' as his sister, because that was just so fucking weird.

(and actually, i can see bruce and natasha in a 'sex for fun and cuddles' relationship really, really easily)

I don't ship Clitasha, but lord knows I'd have preferred it over Brutasha.

I hated Bruce/Natasha, but I kind of liked the Clint's family subplot. I don't get the hate for it.

To be honest as much as I like Fraction's Kate and Clint dynamic, I don't really think it works for MCU Clint anyway. I'm fine with what we have.

As for Clintasha, I like it okay, but I saw a lot more UST between Steve and Natasha than I did between them (and I do like that ship, but I wasn't rooting for it to happen either, as I prefer other Steve ships). I'm weirded out by the people who thought the MCU was an obvious trajectory toward Clintasha, as nothing in the first Avengers movie was clearly romantic with them.

Lmao did I write this?
Clint and Natasha as friends is waaay more interesting and complex imo. And Natasha's realtionship as "aunty nat" is adorable.

Im also kinda biased because I find most clintasha shippers insufferable

(Anonymous) 2016-10-31 08:18 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, that does sound biased :)

(I honestly haven't seen clintasha shippers do much of anything but post fic,on tumblr maybe?)

I like 'em either way,it feels like there is such a special connection between the two of them. Romantic or platonic.

That said, I despise Bruce/Natasha. It felt forced and out of place, and kinda like Bruce was Joss's insert 2.0, after Xander of course.

But I am biased.

(Anonymous) 2016-10-31 11:34 am (UTC)(link)
I found the idea of Bruce/Natasha intriguing. It just seemed like something was missing from it.

Like, the actual development of the relationship.
