Is there anyone else here who are in obscure or just straight up dead fandoms?

*raises hand*

Even for franchises that are pretty well-known, like Jurassic Park (films and novels), the fandom seems v small. Unless I'm not looking in the right spots...

but idk, I think, at the same time, I find comfort in that? I mean, I could easily throw myself at Star Wars, but it's so overdone and has reached a point where literally anyone, even those who haven't seen Star Wars, can make a Darth Vader joke, and it just wouldn't be special.

IDK WHAT I'M ON ABOUT, maybe this is a rant T_T

Ooh, ooh, me, me! Amazingly enough there is a Deus Ex fandom on tumblr but it's really small and I'm getting a bit of a "crazy" vibe from it -- but I'll take it over stuffy "immersive sim" PC gaming master race snobs any day.

I'm a big fan of The Thing. The fandom is less small and more scattered - I first ran into other fans here.

I lurk the fandom for Helix, but it's basically dead and I hate all the fanworks anyway. AUs and OOC-ness for days. I wish I could magic it better, but even if I wrote my insane plotty Helix/Orphan Black crossover, nobody would see it or care.

The amount of GOOD Allen/Ellie fics that continue from Jurassic Park or even Jurassic World is DEPRESSINGLY ABSENT. I remember this one fic where Ellie was injured in such a way that she was very nearly killed, but when she had learned that Allen had gone back to the island, she decided to follow him. I really liked that fic, but it was never finished AND it was on a site similar to angelfire or geocities, so it may not even EXIST anymore. :C

Oh, I've got plenty of those. I read a lot of sci-fi and fantasy books and, with very few exceptions, there's usually no fandom attached to them. Also, many of these books are old, some even older than my grandparents.

The only other people who know what The Hermux Tantamoq books are are usually from France. I guess it was a lot bigger over there than in the US.

I've only met one other person in ten years who knows what Mistmantle is.

Oh, several! One of them is for a game that is admittedly completely awful, (Beyond the Beyond, an old RPG on the PS1) but I'm fond of...idk, the potential? It could have been genuinely amazing if it had actually used any of its said potential, but it didn't, haha. I suppose I just really like thinking about the possibilities.

Another is this anime OVA called Bounty Dog that is...again, not the best, but I'm incredibly fond of. I've even written some fic for it that I never posted.

Ooh, and Clock Tower-- at least, the first two games. There used to be a small but loyal following on the GameFAQs message boards (I know, I know), we even banded together and roleplayed from it. It disbanded eventually, though. I wonder how those folks are doing?
