I'm sorry that happened. I know what it feels like to invest your time and energy into a friendship, thinking you share something meaningful, only to find that people change on you immediately. When you feel ready, it may help to be friendly and polite to people you enjoy your hobbies with, but maybe to lower your expectations too. I've had to learn that the hard way myself, and I had some good friends point that out to me later on. It's really hard and I still tend to hold people accountable for these things. But I've gotten better at distancing myself emotionally from them, especially when they seem flaky or when things like this happen.

Hope things get better. Grats on publishing some books! That's fantastic and a great start. I would argue that you've gotten a lot out of that experience alone, even if it didn't sell well. If you enjoyed the process of writing, I would encourage you to keep at it, especially when you have an idea that really lights a fire under you.
