I kind of feel this way too. Like I think we've even kind of seen it in flashbacks with some of the other characters. They were good people, but not really the sorts of saints they're made out to be. Still kind of surprised that little box didn't glow red at Tahani when she was namedropping in Michael's office.

Of course it'll be universalist, it's a comedy and it's made from a modern egalitarian liberal humanist point of view

The latest episode rather calls this theory into question.

What makes me love this show so much is that it really seems to have a deeper understanding of morals and the implications of its setting than most other shows.

I couldn't get past the first episode. I was more disturbed by the show's definition of a "good place" than a "good person." Seriously, in heaven, no one would have accents?

Well, it seems to be that nobody has accents unless they want to, since Tahani clearly has one.
