Actually, for HALLOWEEN night, Hocus Pocus. That is the obvious answer. :P

(Anonymous) 2016-11-01 12:45 am (UTC)(link)I rewatched it the other night and it's incredible how much of the horror is just like... pacing, camera angles, and spooky music. And that's it. So much of the effectiveness of the film is just about how well it's put together and shot. It's very simple, in a way.
Re: What is your go to horror movie
(Anonymous) 2016-11-01 01:07 am (UTC)(link)That's a large part of what I love about it, too. Everything's just sorta...lurking ominously out of view, and you're not quite sure when or where the strike will happen. And occasionally we're looking at everything through Michael's eyes as well, which makes it even creepier. I saw a thing on the making of this film once, and it was quite impressive what they were able to do with the limited budget they had.
I also like it because it's the kind of horror movie that scares me the most: the sort that deals with frightening things that could happen for real. A murderer escaping an institution (or prison) and going on a killing spree can happen, has happened. Add in how old Michael was when he committed his very first murder and the whole story just...gives me shivers.
