That's a very good philosophy to encourage writers to keep writing no matter what, but aside from that, "making it" is being successful - however the writer chooses to define that. So outside of a personal mantra to keep writing, claiming that there's no such thing as success seems a bit... well, maybe "naive" isn't the proper word, but that's close. People understand that there is such a thing as success, and they've likely given some thought to what it'd be like, or how they'd define it. So trying to placate someone like the OP who's clearly already done that with a generic motivational poster tagline isn't really going to work.
