14. I don't get why so many fandomers seem to think rape = sexy, period. I don't care that it's fiction.

18. I always loved Dobby. I never understood the hate towards him. Then again, I love Hagrid andEwoks too, so.

23. I couldn't agree more. In fics, it's become "if your character as much as looks in a canon character's direction, SHE IS A SUE!" What's the point in an OC, then? What if some of us want to try pulling it off? In the Harry Potter fandom, we were practically built on OCs, and now it's taboo to write them.

In original, if a female is too girly OR has too many strengths, she's a Sue. Drives me mad. And I'm already concerned about my female character, because I CAN see her deciding she's a Sue. It sucks.

53. I... troll, right? RIGHT? I'm going to assume it is, since I don't think a closet racist would really like TKAM, but if it's not? GTFO. And study humanities while you're at it. Someone having darker skin than you does not mean they're inferior.

OP likes "To Kill a Mocking Bird", is into the fandom, and lists it as a favorite of his/her. Secret is, OP is a closet racist, and thinks the author is wrong.

53. What I don't get how Atticus Finch is wrong. About the case? In which... he pretty much proved that it was highly unlikely for his client to have committed the crime? Does the OP's racism infect the storyline itself, turning Tom Robinson into a bad, bad man?

I dunno.

Finch is my hero.

I don't know either, since I have yet to read the book... Did Finch use his book as some sort of soapbox for his views on racial issues? I mean, that's the only way I can think that the OP's racism would matter...

I read the book for the first time last year, actually, but it has swiftly become one of my favorites. The movie is fairly fantastic, too. It is centered around Scout, whose father, Atticus Finch, is charged as a lawyer to defend a black man accused of raping a white woman. He's in the deep south in the 1930's, and the man in question, Tom Robinson, is as good as convicted, but Finch sticks to his convictions and defends Robinson, amidst shunning from the community and even threats of violence.

I hope it's a troll... because it's pretty disgusting to think someone could read that book and miss the entire point. :/ They should have their library card revoked.

Yep, they do. I don't get it either. I think they're just bitter because it's hard to write him in fics because of how he talks.

I adore Hagrid, though.
