I could be wrong about this, but I heard that the reason Reno says 'yo' in English is because in Japanese he says something similar. Like Chichiri says 'no da' in Fushigi Yuugi (if you don't know that manga, this example is completely useless).

You're right.. his speech thing is like, "zotto" or just "-tto" or something, I can't recall, and it wasn't represented at all in the game dialogue because they didn't know what to do about it (thank god, since those translations struggled enough with like, regular words) and people are always unhappy about their translations because there's not usually a good way to go with them. Naruto has BELIEVE IT!!, chichiri had uh... was it "y'know?" lmao I remember how much the fandom hated y'know. :(
