44. As an alumni of Macalester College, I take umbrage with your characterization of it as an "easy" school. I worked very hard for my degree, and so did everyone around me, from Theater majors to Chemistry majors. I cannot speak for Reed College and I haven't the foggiest idea where you are getting your data on which you base your comparison, but Macalester is not somehow an easy ride. You CAN have fandom *and* a rigorous academic experience - if you want it!

;fasdkfads;f MAAAACCC. <3<3<3 Dude, that place 102983423x better than Reed I wanted to go there SO BADLY but I couldn't afford it in the end even with their generous amounts to help out. D: No way is it easy, no WAI; I crossed Reed off because the academic status wasn't up to my standards like Mac was. Hell, the standard there amazed me beyond all bounds--visiting there was one of the best fsking weekends of my LIFE.

I'm glad you got to see it. My life hasn't been all peaches and cream since graduation but I still think Macalester is a special place.

44: I prospied at Mac overnight, and I really liked it. The classes (3) I sat in on, however, didn't really impress me (tho I obvs know that 3 classes does not a college make)

I've got nothing at all against your alma matter.

I said it was "easier" not "easy". I'm basing this on (much as I hate them) college board/princeton review SAT/ACT stats, the comments of all the students I've met / know from each school, and the whole senior thesis at Reed, along with it's reputation for intensity and the staggering (70ish?) % of grads who go on to grad school.

Mac's great, but I do think of it as less of a work load (and slightly less intellectually rigorous) than Reed.

I am happy you had a great undergrad experience, and I hope that I will be as content with my choice as you were with yours.

Also, I left Mac's name off the seal to avoid teh drama, so I'm glad that your response wasn't an angry flame... I appreciate it!

Wait, 44 is MAC? Ahaha. One of the smartest people I know went to Mac, and he was happy there. He's in law school at an Ivy League now, so my impression of Mac's academics is a good one.

Seriously, I didn't recognize the seal, so I just kind of assumed it was some party school.
