I see what you're saying - it didn't feel very harried because they were in hiding a lot of the time and didn't have contact with other resistors that much, let alone actually engaging with the enemy.

before the final battle, the only actual in person meeting between Harry and Voldemort is in (corpse controlled by a giant snake *shudder*) Bathilda's house right before he and Hermione split.
