I'm fine with it if it's a fictional animal like a dragon. If it's a real animal I loathe it with the passion of a thousand fiery suns.

I think it works for real animals only if it's animated. Yes, I liked the horse in Tangled.

See, that's actually exactly what I was thinking of. The horse in Tangled annoyed me so much I've never been able to rewatch it! And I love Disney movies.

I thought I'd read somewhere that the horse was originally a dog, but replaced him with a horse later in production. Rather than changing his mannerisms, they thought it would be funny to keep him "dog-like."
