Another fun addition: the fandom is also hotly wanking, debating and power-point-essaying over whether Victor understood the confession at all, depending on whether you think he knows Japanese and has been speaking it with Yuuri & co the whole time, or if they've actually been talking in English.

They're wanking? Like they have been talking in English, but Victor's also been living full immersion in Japan for like four months now so to say he hasn't picked up and can understand a decent amount of every day conversational Japanese would be kind of out there. At the very least he probably caught a vague gist of it.

Yup. There's been very adamant posts about how "OMG, do people really think Victor knows/doesn't know what Yuuri said because it was in Japanese? Like, really guys? REALLY??!!" And I think it's like you said, he's not fluent but he must have picked up enough to know words like "love." What's possible is that he couldn't figure out if Yuuri was relating the words about "love" to him or just talking more about the theme of his skating program. That part is actually unclear IMO. But it'll almost definitely be answered in the next episode.

The "Victor speaks perfect Japanese" and the "Victor understand almost nothing in Japanese" sides have been fighting since last Wednesday, but everyone else is shaking their heads and moving on.
