Where are you from and why are you anxious? besides the obvious.

Belgium. So I don't have to worry about getting invaded or anything, but as a tiny country I do think it's harder for us to resist big changes in the world. Belgium's always been one of the first countries to join organizations like the EU or NATO however imperfect they may be. So when things like Brexit happen or Trump talks about maybe not supporting NATO allies, it's a creepy thought. Plus, all the horrible views that have come up would be legitimized. All those thinkpieces about how the extreme right is gaining ground in Europe aren't wrong, and you can feel it and it's weird.

Maybe on a smaller scale: my brother is a high school English teacher here and he gave them an article to read, some piece about cat-calling and why it was wrong. You'd think, teenagers, they're millennials, they're the tumblr generation, but no they were all baffled and 'oh it's just harmless fun' and 'it's flattering' and other nonsense. Trump isn't going to help with those attitudes.

Hillary isn't going to make the world a bed of roses, but at least I can be pretty sure that it'll still be somewhat recognizable a few years from now.
