I applied through a notice in the newspaper. I disclosed my mental health problems only at the 18 month mark when employee rights laws kicked in. My boss was pissed, he said he'd never have employed me if he'd known I had mental health issues (technically illegal to do so, but impossible to prove discrimination) and I said I knew and that was why I failed to disclose. He tried to get HR to fire me, but they said that I didn't have to disclose at all if I didn't want to, and since I'd been employed now for 18months he couldn't summarily dismiss.
