I recently finished the first shawl I designed myself. It's been a lot of trial and error and I'm not quite done since I want to redo the last 10 rows or so, but I'm still really happy with how the main lace patterns came out. I started with nothing but a vague idea and a few blank sheets of graph paper for writing up the charts.

I have no idea how big this picture is going to come out, so apologies in advance if it's huge.

It took longer and longer because each section had double the number of stitches as the section before. So at first it was only about five minutes per row, and then it kept increasing until it took almost half an hour to do a single row by the end. I was happy when I realized I only had about 10 hours left. :p But it's not so bad when I put on some good movies and tv and knit while I watch.
