This is why I try to avoid shipping anything in soaps because I know, I know it'll end in heartbreak, soap characters don't get to be happy man and it sucks. And this soap is especially bad at 'everyone's lives suck', like you don't want the show to focus on the characters you like because holy fuck they are about to get emotionally jack-knifed.

The fact that my ship got to leave without either being dead and still together is something I count as a win tbh.

That's why I stopped watching. I happened to catch an episode and got hooked, but I only watched for about a year. At that point, the pairing I liked was broken up and the other character I really liked was dead. I decided soaps really weren't for me.

Yeah, I normally don't watch them either because of how the characters can't ever have normal lives, but these two hoiked me in for about 3 years and when they left I stopped watching.

There's still one soap I watch every now and then because it's not quite as bad as some of the others with the 'everything is pain' angle but even then I'm not a regular viewer.
