How much do you lie online?

I lie about my gender and birthday and whatnot in my online profiles so it's harder to track me.

And mix up details in irl stories for the same effect.

Otherwise I'm fairly honest.

Not very much, unless people ask me stuff that's none of their business - so, much like in real life.

I never tell my exact birthdate online. The birthdate I give is the date I invented the character "Mimi Fish" (aka Mimi Sardinia) plus my actual birth year (because I invented Mimi in 2000).

Not much. I won't say where I work, or if there's any other business in the area I want to rant about I'll just say what it deals in, ie, "hoity toity fish restaurant", but the metro area I live in, my age, my occupation, my friends' occupations when relevant, my health, personal history, family's personal history (names omitted of course), etc? I'm an open book. I figure no one's going to care enough to hunt me down. I'm not that great.

Opinions on things I'm less likely to voice, but if I do it won't be lying either.

A lot or a little depending on how you want to see it.

I "lie" about my name but it's a nickname I introduce myself with offline too. I "lie" about my birthday but that date is when I celebrate it so it is my birthday for everything besides legal documents. I "lie" about my race but I am part-that race and another.

Mostly lies of omission. I grew up in the 'Don't give anyone online your personal details' era and so I tend to be vague about them.

honestly, about as much as I lie in real life to strangers

I'm lying right now.

Like some of the others, not actively; rather by omission. Depends on the situation, though.

When I'm in an online space where I know there'll be a lot of dudes, I... don't exactly lie about my gender, but always have names that make people assume I'm a man. It just feels safer that way and I don't have to deal with all the "perks" of being a woman online.

Pretty much never, because I tell people so little about myself that there's no point.

I'm lying right now.

If I'm venting about a particular individual i tend to either use the opposite gender pronouns or fudge small details to make it as unclear as possible who it is. Mostly because i dont want the person to be figured out or get hste. I usually just want to blow off steam and maybe get validation for how I'm feeling.

Not much, I mostly just withhold certain information rather than outright lying.

I usually sit, but sometimes stand.
