I buy things based on source of origin more than brand names. If a brand name is made in China, I lump it in with the generic stuff. If the generic stuff is made in my own country, I buy that instead of the brand name one. But I still think that a lot of brand names do make better quality products - I buy brand name oatmeal because the generic stuff sucks.
