Look, you don't have to admire the artist to admire the art. I love Wagner, who was a anti-semite; his family catered to Hitler. Despicable, yeah, but on another level his music was sublime. To me that says that even the worst person has something wonderful inside of them. Besides that, nobody is perfect and you're always going to learn disappointing things about your favorite writers. You just have to live with it.

I think it more has to do with realizing my hero isn't quite who I thought she was - and it's completely my problem. I'm the one who had some impossible expectations waiting to be dashed.
