It was very pretty, yes, but also, the Wicked Stepmother! Her frustration with her subpar daughters, the bewilderment and anger that what was supposed to be her own happy ending burned up - twice! - and here she is, bitter and aging and still having to battle for prosperity...

It was brilliant!

I admit, Cate Blanchett was a huge part of the draw. I have such a crush on her. I'll watch her in anything. And I do love that they gave the stepmother a bit more depth. And Blanchett killed it in the role.
