Speaking as a person that doesn't care for bugs, ants are nothing to be scared of. Cockroaches and millipedes scare me more.

Ants are nothing to be afraid of unless you don't notice them or deal with them and they decide to move into your house and build their new nest in your spare room bringing thousands and thousands of friends. Happened once at my grandma's house.
