I don't think the show ever did a great job with her. I was surprised fandom was so pissed about her being gone because I honestly didn't think she was that good of a character?

I like Black Canary but I thought Sara made a better one.

Agreed. There's a reason they brought Sara back from the dead, put her on a new show, and even made her the new captain of the time ship. Laurel was poorly handled from day one and it's best they don't have her in the show anymore so they don't have to pretend to care about her character anymore.
