Even if she were a LEGAL secretary - which I doubt she is - that wouldn't qualify her to do the things she does. Of course, the firm was doing horribly and barely needs a secretary in the first place so I feel like we're supposed to root for her for doing legal work as kind of a stand-in (while Matt is off somewhere only having half his identity cared about by the show-runners), as far as that flies with suspension of disbelief. I don't blame it on the character, but it sure is annoying.

Yeah, she's hardly the most unprofessional character here - the flip side of "she's not a lawyer" is "Matt and Foggy are lawyers". They're the ones with the legal responsibilities, not her, and they're the ones with the problem.

Well, it's not a contest but yeah, Matt and Foggy would face some serious repercussions if they knowingly allowed her to present herself as a lawyer or some kind of legal expert. But Karen would not be legally blameless in this, either. She could face both criminal AND civil liabilities for misrepresenting herself as a lawyer. The only reason you could argue that she'd get off relatively light is that she has no license to lose, whereas Matt and Foggy do.
