Re: What question do you hate being asked?

Anything relating to the skin condition on my arms and legs. What's wrong with your skin? Why are you wearing long sleeves in this weather? What happened to your arms?

I just say, "I have a chronic skin condition," and that usually ends the questioning, but now I feel mortified by self-consciousness and want to hide in a closet forever, thanks so much!

This.

I have psoriasis and I don't have health insurance (NC, USA; denied Medicaid and laughed out of the room when I tried applying for health insurance/Obamacare). The creams and lotions that I bought over the counter have stopped working. I have patches on my right arm, left elbow, stomach, and both legs.

Kids always want to know what is wrong with me. Adults usually offer helpful* advice. My Mom and Dad did not have psoriasis, but both of my grandmothers did.

*Yes, I know about the shots, pills, laser treatment, taking oatmeal baths, changing my diet, and getting more sunlight. I either can't afford to see a doctor, can't pay for the medication, or tried it already. One time when I was able to go to a free clinic (since closed permanently), the doctor prescribed a lotion. When I went to get the prescription filled, they wanted over $100 for a tube that would have only lasted a few days.
