*nod nod* I kind of know quite a bit about geology and it looks like an amethyst to me, too. But the colour doesn't look natural, I think it might just be an image someone's colour altered. [/nerd]

Yes, it's amethyst. (At least, that's what Google Image Search tells me, and matches what few exposures to the actual rock I have, which I'll admit are limited even though I used to be a gemstone junkie.)

Not a red herring, and not Pokemon. Kinda close, so good guess!

By any chance are you referring to Gundam Wing? I love 1x2, but I can't read about amethyst or anything being cobalt or prussian blue without snickering now.

Why'd they pick amethyst, anyway? Doesn't match canon very well...

Nope! Not Gundam, either. If it's any hint, the anime itself is finished, but another spin-off just premiered a few weeks ago.

Still a no. The spin-off involves motorbikes. To which fans of the original series (and even the first sequel) went "WTF?" but are now going "OMG AWESOME". At least, that's what it seems like.
