Well, Wikipedia confuses me at the moment, so what is the movie about and how come it convinces you to keep your faith?

It's hard to explain without spoilers, but it's a really good movie- hilarious and poignant. imdb summary "An abortion clinic worker with a special heritage is called upon to save the existence of humanity from being negated by two renegade fallen angels trying to exploit a loophole and re-enter Heaven"

Dogma probably saved my faith too- every time I watch it I am reaffirmed of the fact that God loves us, has a sense of humor, and that even if we never quite figure out the whole faith thing it's okay- we're not meant to, and the fact that we're trying counts for something. :) It also makes me laugh more than almost any other movie I've seen.

I have to admit that the description made me slightly wary at first but I think I'll check it out. New perspectives never hurt :)

As it has been mentioned already, the movie is called Dogma. (Came out in 1999, I think.)

It's kinda hard to describe without giving away spoilers, and every time I try to do so without it sounds corny. But the female lead goes on a spiritual journey (a bit of a unplanned one) while she's also on a mission from God. Part of the problem is that she's looking at religion the wrong way, and part of it is that she had some things happen in her past that deeply hurt her. These things shook her faith in God.

At one point, a character says that the problem with faith is that people will die for it. God doesn't want us to die, but to live. But an idea... well, an idea might not blind people. And it might help them understand what they believe better. He said that no Christian group had gotten it right yet.

I highly recommend this movie. Just about everyone I know enjoyed it, and in that mix are a lot of people from different faiths and beliefs (including atheism). Though I do admit that there's some extra humor for people familiar with Christianity (for obvious reasons).
