Hillary lost fair and square, but it's your money. Piss it away if you wanna.

"Fair and Square" in the sense that nothing that was done was illegal

Voter suppression is swing states didn't break the law but it's not good or fair either

Voter depression is not voter suppression. Run a better candidate next time. Run one who'll actually fucking show their face in Wisconsin more than once.

You don't have to think that voter suppression is the only, or even the primary, reason Clinton lost to think that it's bad. And I think that some amount of voter suppression did, you know happen - that turnout wasn't entirely an artifact of Clinton.

There were cases of voter suppression. Particularly in NC.

Re: Recount?

One of my friends in NC was made to show ID even though she brought her voter registration card with her, which was supposed to be all you needed. Unsurprisingly, she also isn't white.

I am shocked. Shocked.

(Because tone is notoriously hard to discern on the internet, let me clarify. I am completely NOT shocked that there was an illegal attempt to prevent your not-white friend from voting.)

I'm from NC, and I can confirm this was a thing that happened to people. My brother and I voted early to try and avoid it. But others weren't as lucky.

Clinton (at this time) has 2 million more votes than Trump. So, people did get out and vote.

Too bad she wasn't running for president of California, huh?

They need to do away with the Electoral College.

Re: Recount?

(Anonymous) 2016-11-24 01:32 am (UTC)(link)
Obama didn't think so. Oh yeah, he won.

Re: Recount?

(Anonymous) 2016-11-24 01:37 am (UTC)(link)
He won the popular vote and EC. What stupid point are you trying to make???

Re: Recount?

(Anonymous) 2016-11-24 02:07 am (UTC)(link)
NAYRT, but here's two stupid points: one, the Democrats are clearly capable of defeating a Republican despite the electoral college, so blaming the electoral college is a pitiful excuse. And two, the Democrats know damn well it's a pitiful excuse, which is why they never bother trying to remove it when they have power. Unless you think Obama just FORGOT what happened to Gore?

Re: Recount?

(Anonymous) 2016-11-24 02:06 am (UTC)(link)
And if it's abolished, and then later on a candidate you DON'T LIKE wins the popular vote what will you do then?

Re: Recount?

(Anonymous) 2016-11-24 02:11 am (UTC)(link)
Go, "Oh. More ACTUAL people like this candidate." Instead of some rich assholes that are basically paid to cast their ballots.

Re: Recount?

(Anonymous) 2016-11-24 02:14 am (UTC)(link)
Electors have a track record of acting according to their state's popular vote, so unless you're saying that states are entirely made up of rich assholes...

No. Here is a fun video describing how fucked up it is.

You are exactly the kind of person who posts collegehumor.com videos in place of a real argument. The fact is, had Hillary run a decent campaign and actually gotten the early count in her favor, the electoral college would not flip to get rid of her.

But the liberal trend for only moving to liberal ghettos means their vote is concentrated in too few constituencies. Libs need to take a leaf from Republicans book and keep on moving into Republican areas and making every single day about trying to convert Republicans to democrats. That is what the Republicans do, they move to democrat areas and start making their lives all about evangelizing the Republican way of life.

You look at any HOA board, or city council, or school board, or hell even pie judging contest, and you'll find a Republican moving in on it and trying to make the position all about supporting the Republican cause. That is what they have been doing the last 40 years. Liberals need to start doing that, but in reverse. Hurry up, you're only 40 years behind.
