Re: Recount?

Clinton has 2 million more votes than Trump. The Electoral College is a joke.

Clinton knew the electoral college was in place when she began her campaign, just like Trump did, she should have campaigned better with it in mind.

The most qualified candidate in American history fell asleep in Civics class on the day they were explaining the electoral college.

She didn't take her top up classes in computing either, otherwise she'd have known to keep her firewall up to date.

da

She never got hacked on her private server. Unless you're talking about the DNC hack?

You are one dumb motherfucker, aren't you. Go google Hillary's midwest firewall and bask in your shame.

NAYRT

Like, I agree that the electoral college shouldn't really be regarded as an excuse for Clinton's lost

At the same time, we live in a country where more votes were cast for a Democratic president than a Republican one. We live in a country where more votes were cast for Democratic House candidates than Republican ones. And we live in a country where, in general, far more votes are cast for Democratic Senate candidates than for Republican ones. And yet Republicans control the Presidency, the House, and the Senate.

Now, all of that obviously goes with the rules that we've agreed on. And again it's not an excuse. And it has many complex causes, obviously. At the same time, I think there is something basically undemocratic about that. I don't see how you can look at that, and think that it's anything other than a dysfunctional situation. And I think the plurality of American voters who want Democratic governance have a legitimate grievance about having to live under a federal government wholly controlled by the Republican Party. I kinda think you have to look at that as a problem on some fundamental level.

Well those Dems need to move out of the coasts and into flyover, stop concentrating their votes in a few areas. We all know Republican areas are gerrymandered to hell and back to make the most of a dwindling base. Dems need to be moving into those areas and knocking them out of the Republican fold. Democrats just won't do that though, they piss and whine, sign a few email petitions, and do nothing until three weeks before a presidential election and whine for four years afterwards.

Yeah. Why don't people move into horrible states that are known for poor education, horrible women and minorities rights, and shitty quality of life.

Re: Recount?

(Anonymous) 2016-11-24 02:40 am (UTC)(link)
Because they are shortsighted as hell. Unless the educated folks move into those areas and spend money improving them they are going to keep being shitty places to live, and that means they will continue to be full of angry people who will vote for any fast talking con artist who promises to not make them shitty places to live. You want to flip those states around, then the Democrat base is going to have to start making some sacrifices. Or just keep clustering around the same few cities and let the electoral college gradual redden.

that'd be relatively easy if it was solely a question of cultural concerns, but the thing is, the current polarization also has strong economic causes

Re: Recount?

(Anonymous) 2016-11-24 03:52 am (UTC)(link)
Why the fuck can't all the republicans who complain about living in dying rural towns not move to cities, then? Oh, because it costs too much, because they'd be leaving their jobs and families and houses and friends behind? Because they don't like the kind of people who live in cities? Gee, I wonder why democrats don't just move to rural areas?

Re: Recount?

(Anonymous) 2016-11-24 02:40 am (UTC)(link)
That's what gated communities are for. Have one of the richer liberals like Clinton, the people who paid her insane money to talk or the celebrities who attended her election parties bankroll a series of enclaves in the dust bowl. Build micro-cities and transplant techies there. You'd only need five hundred thousand people to seize Wyoming!

Re: Recount?

(Anonymous) 2016-11-24 02:47 am (UTC)(link)
Wouldn't gated communities be too vulnerable to gerrymandering? Plus they'd be too insular to spread the word, and too liable to invoke envy and anger in the dirt poor neighbors who can only look at the palaces of the rich with despair because they'd never be able to afford that part of the American dream. The dirt poors wouldn't even get in as cleaners or ground maintenance, they'd have migrant workers from Mexico or the Philippines for that.

Gated communities are one of the cancers the democrats should be trying to cut out of the body of American politics.

It doesn't matter if hicks are mad as long as you outnumber them. They're a bunch of racist heroin addicts anyway, who cares? The whole point of this exercise is flipping the colonization script.

Translation, anyone please?

Re: Recount?

(Anonymous) 2016-11-24 03:57 am (UTC)(link)
Actually it kinda flip-flops between heroin and various oxy morphine derivatives. And in states with legalized weed, apparently opiate-related deaths drop something like 30%. I personally hate weed, the smell makes me gag and I don't need more reasons to be paranoid, but it would help reduce the drug death toll in rural communities and hey, maybe they'd be less angry.

I mean

It's a fucked situation. Democrats' failure to move to Des Moine does not make it unfucked.
