I have a monthly plan where I get one credit per month for $14.95 and my credit card is billed monthly when they issue my credit. Most of the audio books on the site are a cost of one credit so this works out well for me. Basically I get one audio book per month for that $14.95.

The full retail price of many of the audio books (especially really popular/new books) are way more than $14.95 but still only cost me one credit to buy as a member. Take the Harry Potter books - most of them would cost me $44.99 to buy outright. But as a member they only cost me one credit (aka my monthly $14.95 fee). So you can save a lot of money if you listen to a lot of audio books.

What can be really confusing is that for new members they sometimes run promotions where the first month(s) cost less than $14.95. I think I paid $7.95 my first three months and still received one credit per month.

As a member you can also buy additional credits if you want to buy more books. Right now they are offering me an additional 3 credits for $35.88 ($11.96 per credit). Again think of that Harry Potter book being $44 each if I wanted to buy it outright- big savings.

Hope this clarifies things for you.

I've been on the same subscription as you with audible for about four months now and had no idea you could purchase additional credits for even cheaper than the monthly thing. just as I finished my usual monthly book, too. thanks anon!
