I want it to be like full gay too and seeing where this is going they might as well end up marrying and really adopting Yurio (ep. 8 had them acting like his embarrassing parents).

It's just that years of horrible disillusions when it comes to guys being gay in anime or manga had made me a bit more paranoid "bl in a non-bl" setting (Genshiken being a very recent example).

I mean that's fair, but for example you bring up Touya and Yukito from CCS above and they, personally, have far canon going for them and yet still no one disputes their canon status?* As they shouldn't, because of course their canon.

But as far as explicitly romantic gestures, this series has already gone beyond series like Utena (tv, not movie of course) and CCS in romantic text, so it's weird to me to see it called 'borderline gay'.

(*I say no one, but that is of course untrue. There will always be people that debate even the most canon of gay couples, unfortunately.)
