I don't know about that. Take Legends of Tomorrow for example. That show has been tanking in the ratings (especially holding a very low score at rotten tomatoes) and yet it got a season 2. Season 2 of that show is great and better than season 1 so far IMO.

Once Upon a Time is another example. The later seasons after season 1 tanked in the ratings, it still managed to survive up to season 6. That's rare.

I think MacGyver will survive and will get a season 2.

Eh, you can't really compare the CW to any of the big 4 as far as numbers go.

But, yeah it very well make another season. But, even though I enjoy it I am expecting it to start going fractional after the December break.

I could see it getting renewed with a budget cut though. It does have a lot of budget and syndication things in it's favor so it might be one of those like OUaT that manages to pull it back.
