I don't think this is really that unusual

Pretty sure most people are, but the decent ones keep it to themselves.

It's like the Hulk at the end of the Avengers movie "My secret is I'm always angry."

Being judgy doesn't make you a bad person, lacking the self-control to keep from hurting people with it is what makes you awful.

Or worse, justifying it through whatever troll logic you come up with. "I'm sure that random stranger needs to know they don't make my genitals tingle, but they would if they wore a better shade of lipstick and changed their weight/hair!" "I'm sure they just haven't realized their shipping is gross and wrong and I can enlighten them, for their own good." "If I passively-aggressively ask over and over if my nephew is still wasting his time volunteering for charity instead of finding a woman and impregnating her multiple times as is proper, he'll love it!"

Nah I think lots of people in fandom are like this, myself included, it's just that the non-assholes won't go and bother people about what they like.

As long as the sentiments aren't getting expressed to other people, I don't see the harm (though I'd be careful because sometimes people can pick up on that stuff more then you'd realize.)

I think the only time you need to question yourself on it is if you KNOW it's ridiculous or irrational or even hypocritical to judge someone on something. Those kind of thoughts sometimes need a little, exploration I guess? Purely in the way if you are looking to self improve.

Yeah, I think everyone has that one thing (or a few things) they just will never GET how anyone else can like/tolerate/etc. There's stuff people like that leaves me scratching my head, too.

But like noted, so long as you (general "you") aren't harassing anyone about it, then no biggie. You feel how you feel and that's okay. And even if somebody finds themselves in a discussion where people ARE talking about the things they're personally kinda judgey over, there's still ways to express their dislike of something/their "I don't get why/how people like this" sentiment without being rude or disrespectful to those who do like it.

(Anonymous) 2016-11-27 10:35 pm (UTC)(link)
I think most people do this, tbh. People who act like it's a sin to even have judgmental thoughts (even if you keep them to yourself) are either trolling or hypocritical.

We all are anon :)

I snickered at the "Judgy von Holier Than Thou" part.

Me too! So great.

(I am also this anon.)

*raises hand*

Hell yes. I judge all the time, in fandom and in real life. But mostly i keep it to myself, unless someone is being an absolute ass and/or making someone else feel bad for no good reason (i.e.: your story about char.A and char.B gross me out and you're a sick fuck! no normal person wants to have sex in a kitchen, omg!!!). That kind of petty crap.

(Anonymous) 2016-11-28 12:39 am (UTC)(link)
This is me, too, OP. I acknowledge there is a lot I am Judgey McJudgerson about, but I would never voice those thoughts "aloud" because as has been said, just because it doesn't float my boat doesn't mean it doesn't have a fanbase. And I also know I'm a hypocrite internally because I'm into some pretty sketchy stuff in fiction.

I'll write what I like, they can write what they like, and everyone can be happy. Or so it will be lovely when the pendulum swings back away from publicly judgey/harrassment.

There's nothing wrong with that. Everyone has their own tastes and beliefs. Since you're not pushing them on others, talking smack about them behind their back, or trying to mess with them, it's really not a problem.

(Anonymous) 2016-11-29 01:42 am (UTC)(link)
I'm super judgy too. Do I yell about it on my Tumblr? No. (Although I will say some things on my Twitter.)
