(Anonymous) 2016-11-27 11:49 pm (UTC)(link)How else would you sum up their relationship? Lance still pretty much has an immature grudge against Keith, and Keith is kind of baffled and/or annoyed by it. They had one friendly "Moment" that got completely subverted by Lance continuing to be a brat towards Keith after that.
I'm not trying to be an ass, I'm honestly curious how else one would sum up the relationship those two have.

(Anonymous) 2016-11-28 12:18 am (UTC)(link)Episode 2: Keith agrees with Lance's comeback even though it's terrible (toy soldiers??). Note that the two of them CHOSE to sit right next to each other. After they form Voltron, Keith and Lance have a friendly exchange before going separate ways.
Episode 4: After hanging out with Hunk and Keith on the couch, during the party, Lance tries to teach Keith the cheer. When Keith doesn't get it, rather than insult/make fun of him, Lance just says they'll work on it. He had the perfect opportunity to be a brat but chose not to.
Episode 5: The Bonding Moment(TM). "We really do make a good team." Keith just holds Lance's hand rather than actually pulling him to his feet.
Episode 6: Keith tries to get Lance out of the pod early because he's impatient. Later, Lance denies The Bonding Moment, which really upsets Keith, which is, yes, bratty. And yet... "Hey Lance, I got your lion back" with a genuine smile on his face. "Can you come untie me now?" Keith laughs and teases him with the signal cutting out. This is literally playful banter. When you see the lions return to the ship immediately after, both Red and Blue are missing. Keith DID go back and personally untie Lance.
Episode 7: Lance works with Keith to protect the Balmera, reminding him not to hurt it and coming up with a better plan, all the while never actually insulting him.
I'm definitely missing some interactions, but basically, it's not that simple? Lance is still immature and Keith is still confused by it, but they clearly enjoy each other's company and work well together.
I hate most of the shippers too, because they willfully misinterpret the dynamic as abusive and find that adorable for some reason. But yeah, I don't agree that summation at all.
