Re: AYRT
(Anonymous) 2016-11-28 11:37 pm (UTC)(link)It's amazing how often some parents expect their toddlers to behave like angels but don't understand kids or child development at all.
Exactly. Either that or she's tired and needs a nap, one of the two.
I do think some parents honestly think having children will be nothing but cute fluff moments and for whatever reason, they don't bother to consider the exhaustion and temper tantrums and stress and whatnot that comes with it. They just somehow assume it'll be smooth sailing, and...no. Not at all.
Either that, or the kids were just kind of an unexpected thing for them, and they're woefully unprepared to handle this surprise family that's been thrust at them all of a sudden.
That story about the woman being proud of taking away her daughter's toys is heartbreaking :(. Seriously, what the hell kind of logic is that?
My mom told me a story once about a co-worker of hers who'd put her young child on Ritalin because, according to her, "if I didn't, she'd just go around the house singing all day."
My mom was stunned by this, and all she could think in response was, "...yeah, and...?". Like, that's what kids DO. That breeds imagination and keeps them occupied and entertained. That's a GOOD thing. Geez, when I was little, I used to talk to the sun, of all things :p! I honestly don't understand why any parent would want to quash that.
