badass_tiger: Charles Dance as Lord Vetinari (Daniel's Dimples)

I mean, the erotica and romance genres largely make money simply by relying on the tropes they depict being appealing to people, not on good writing. As a matter of fact, you could say the same of most genres, but I feel like it's especially true for romance novels. Why else would I read absolutely ridiculous books about tragic young assistants falling in love with their tragic but wealthy and extremely sexy bosses? It's just the kink factor, man.

That's my kink, too. It's just sad that it's so poorly executed most of the time.
