Since Keith is up in the air, most just assume any ship he's in is interracial. People tend to default him as being Korean.

On a side note, it's a little alarming how often I've seen anti-Sheith people also refer to Shiro (fucking Takashi Shirogane) as being Korean. Being an Asian person in the Voltron fandom is mind numbing.

Really? But he looks so Japanese in design. I mean, I know his voice actor is Steven Yeun, but Keith's hair and clothes all look like something out of a mecha anime, and his facial features and skin tone make him look like he'd fit right in with the Fire Nation, which is as close to imperial Japan as a fantasy nation can get.

But LOL at Shiro being Korean. Is it to do with making Shiro and Keith brothers, so that the ship is not only pedophilia, it's also incest? Because if there are two Asian guys on the same show, they have to be related, right? IT'S THE ONLY POSSIBLE EXPLANATION.

This is so fucking dumb, for god's sake, the show has pretty much confirmed that Keith is an alien, Shiro is not. They aren't related. Antis are going apehsit.

Nah, not really. I mean, I'm all for the alien/part-alien Keith theory, but it's all based on hints and is nowhere near confirmed. We won't know for sure what's up with Keith until season 2, possibly longer. I think "Keith is an orphan, Shiro isn't" is a better argument for now.

Say whaaat. Alien Keith is still just a theory at this point, based on possible hints that could easily have an alternate explanation. Don't get me wrong, I'm rooting for it to be true, but at this point, it's nowhere close to being canon.

Galra technology can only be activated by Galra handprints. Keith can activate Galra technology.

from what I understand Keith's VA made a comment about the possibility of him being Korean but there's no canon to back it as of yet. The last name the fandom uses for him is basically just filling in the current blanks with the 80s name. We should find out a bit more in the next season and then it'll be interesting to see what holds up and what gets shot down.

I've never seen Shiro represented as anything but Japanese in the fandom, tumblr and otherwise, though. Him being Japanese is canon and I've never seen anyone argue for him to be anything else. We must hang out in different corners of fandom.
