So many things! I want to live in The Future! I want Mass Relays and stupid sexy Turians! I want Fifth Element galactic cruise ships with leopard-print pop singers! I want gritty Blade Runner cities! I want Cowboy Bebop space cowboys! I want all of it!

This time is already SO COOL. We have little tiny blocks of tech that fit in the palm of our hand and can hold more data than existed on all the computers in the world just a few decades ago. Universities, labs, and museums make more and more art and tech and knowledge available for free public consumption every day. Science and tech continue increasing at an exponential rate. With every year that passes less people die of disease and famine. Deaths from war are at an all-time low. Humanity has engineered new systems of trust and communication, and in the process united vast webs of strangers through services like Uber or AirBnB. We get closer to post-scarcity economies every day.

Just imagine in 20 or 50 years!

So what is this Emolument thing that every Hillary supporter is freaking out over? Is it a real thing or just liberal version of whitewater? As I understand it, it is something to stop the President in ye olde dayes being bribed into surrendering the US back to the King of England. I'm not sure that applies any more, for a start England has enough troubles without taking America back. I don't think modern business subsidies are what the Founding Fathers were really concerned about. 'Cause, they weren't really a thing back then.

Also, it's probably not going to be a thing, but it's still not a good thing if people are giving business to Trump business because they think it gives them access (which seems to be the case already). And it'd be even worse if it really did give access.

So since it's out... anyone playing yet?

I'm still trying to figure out how to get info on the alleged Noctis/Luna romance thing without getting knee deep into spoiler territory. I just really don't want to play a bad Final Fantasy romance again, so if that romance is fairly important for the game, I might actually give it a pass...

How do I feel the way I should?

My friend died last night. She was doing better. Her cancer was in remission. She had gone back to work. Then suddenly last night she was in extreme pain and went to the ER. She lapsed into a coma and died. They aren't sure yet what caused it.

I feel kind of numb right now. I don't know how to feel, honestly. Or I know how I think I should feel. I want to cry. I've felt close to crying since I found out, but I haven't cried yet.

I can't go to the funeral because I can't afford a plane ticket. But I want to figure out something to do anyway. She was the kindest person I knew. Just a genuinely nice person who was kind to everyone. I can't really imagine the world without her in it yet.

You know when you kinda know something about someone, but you're still a little weirded out when they actually come out and say it?

I've spent the past year on a work scheme working as a secretary with this guy as my boss. I kinda knew he pretty sexist. I tend to miss a lot of cues when it comes to this kind of thing, but I got enough to know that when he was interviewing for my replacement, he wasn't going to pick the guy for the job unless forced to by the rest of the interview board. I just, I don't know, I thought he wouldn't pick the guy because he wouldn't want another man in his space who might argue with him and who he'd have to listen to because it was another man, not a woman he could safely ignore/not feel threatened by. I didn't expect him to actually be talking with me on my last day and actually confide that "I don't think it's right for men to work in an office like this". I don't know, I think my brain just missed the connect between 'I don't personally want a man working for me in this position' and 'I don't think men should work in this kind of position at all'? I didn't expect him to actually say it, or to say it as generally as that.

I was also a bit surprised when a couple of the guys who do the outside work confided that they thought he'd actually 'run the last girl off'. Which, I'm not sure what that means. I know I felt unwelcome a lot of the time at the start of the year, but I figured he was getting used to someone new, and it seemed to stop later so I guess I just thought he had done?

I don't know, sometimes I come away from something and people tell me things and I really, really wonder how much I miss of what's going on around me.
