That is literally the only places my fandoms have activity though, those and twitter but twitter is not much better.

I hate it, but tumblr is THE fandom hub right now so until people mass migrate somewhere else that is where most fandom activity will take place unless you're lucky enough to fall into a fandom that has it's own forum or something.

Actually scratch that. The last fandom forum I was on was just full of nasty debates and vitriol everywhere.
