I'm even worse than that! It took me nearly 5 months to work up the nerve to let myself splurge and get an almost $400 commission from a really amazing but rather expensive (this $400 commission is for two "polished sketches" as the artist calls them, with some subtle colouring) artist of some porn for characters that aren't even mine lol.

What's weird though is I wouldn't even bat an eyelash at a commission like yours. That doesn't even register as even remotely narcissistic or "too self-indulgent" to me at all. Maybe it's because I'm being a little unfair on myself, and judging other people by normal reasonable standards while I internally self-flagellate myself for this? But another odd thing is that I have zero problems spending a lot of money on other hobbies. It's...just this. I have no clue why either! :(

See, I think I might have an easier time asking for porn! At least fanart porn. But then again I tend to see shippy or even pornographic commissions being taken all the time, but OCs are something for Mary Sues and not something Good Fans ask for.

And I totally agree it's hard to find that line between 'idk draw me whatever' that leaves a creator frustrated and thinking 'you're going to get a snarling cartoon dick. That counts as whatever' and sending a novel's worth of 'the arm must be raised precisely 27 degrees and the hand posed languidly, I have included 27 picture examples rated by how close I think they come to the proper amount of languidness I want.' that will also frustrate the creator.
