As someone who went through the whole grad school process, I'm with you, anon; it's unrealistic and just doesn't sound that interesting to me.

If the stories were more realistic, there would be a lot more fic with characters in their penultimate year of their English Lit PhD having meltdowns about finishing their degree and what they could possibly do with it afterward.

The removal of social worth from arts degrees, and the sheer viciousness of the jokes about them will be the neocon think tanks most lasting impact on our culture. Of course by removing the ability to appreciate art and think critically about narratives is exactly how you go about removing empathy from a society.

Thanks for the input. Couldn't find anywhere else more relevant to showcase your daily nugget of wisdom?

You must be happy for Trump to be getting the Whitehouse, right?

God, what is with these tryhard anons lately? They're getting more extra and sad by the day.

Well if you are not happy for Trump to be in the Whitehouse then why are you happy to participate in the conservative's social denial of the arts as something worthwhile?

Honest question, since I'm still WTF-ing at this conversation: why are you so bad at this? The community being as sluggish as it is, throwing this random-ass comment into this barely relevant thread wasn't going to make any kind of splash.

So you are going to go on out and continue denigrating the arts and literature degrees now, or are you actually going to stop and think that doing so causes harm?
